
Upon the invitation of the President of the Constitutional Court of the Republic of Slovenia, Mr Jože Tratnik, a delegation from the European Court of Human Rights led by President Jean-Paul Costa arrived on an official visit to the Constitutional Court of the Republic of Slovenia on Sunday, 11 October 2009. The delegation includes Judge Dr Boštjan M. Zupančič and Deputy Registrar Michael O'Boyle.
On Monday, 12 October 2009, the President of the European Court of Human Rights, Mr Jean-Paul Costa, participated in the opening of the international round table on the application of criminal procedural rights of the European Convention on Human Rights in European Union law, and met with the Minister of Justice Mr Aleš Zalar.
Later during the visit, the delegation was received by the President of the Republic of Slovenia, Dr Danilo Türk, and the President of the National Assembly, Dr Pavel Gantar. The President of the European Court of Human Rights met with the Constitutional Court judges on Monday, but the most important part of the visit took place on Tuesday, 13 October 2009, when all-day discussions with the judges of the Slovenian Constitutional Court were held.
The delegation of the European Court of Human Rights departed from Slovenia on Wednesday, 14 October 2009.
