Official Visit of the President of the Constitutional Court of Austria to the Constitutional Court of Slovenia
Upon the invitation of the President of the Constitutional Court of the Republic of Slovenia, Mr Jože Tratnik, a delegation from the Constitutional Court of Austria led by President Dr Gerhart Holzinger paid a two-day official visit to the Constitutional Court of the Republic of Slovenia. The delegation included Vice-President Dr Brigitte Bierlein, Judges Dr Herbert Haller and Dr Claudia Kahr and Secretary General Ms Britta Wagner.
On Thursday, 12 November 2009, the President and the members of the delegation of the Austrian Constitutional Court met the judges of the Slovene Constitutional Court in a daylong official discussion. In the introduction, the judges compared the powers of the two courts, the procedures and the organization of the courts; they also exchanged experience regarding the review of constitutionality in the both countries.
Later in the panel discussion, the judges of the Constitutional Court of Austria and the Constitutional Court of the Republic of Slovenia focused on the issues of the review of constitutionality in connection with the constitutional acts and the references for a preliminary ruling to the EC Court of Justice made by constitutional courts.
The delegation of the Constitutional Court of Austria departed from Slovenia on Friday, 13 November 2009.
