The President of the Constitutional Court, Prof. Dr Matej Accetto, and Judge, Assist. Prof. Dr Špelca Mežnar, attended the Congress organised by the German Federal Constitutional Court (Bundesverfassungsgericht ­BVerfG) in Berlin on 4 and 5 May 2023. The Congress brought together the Presidents of the European Constitutional Courts to discuss how Constitutional Courts are tackling the issue of climate change. The participants were welcomed by the President of the Federal Republic of Germany, Dr Frank-Walter Steinmeier, and addressed by the Federal Minister of Justice, Dr Marco Buschmann.

President Accetto participated as one of three keynote speakers in the section on constitutional responsibility, chaired by the President of the German Federal Constitutional Court, Prof. Dr Stephan Harbarth. President Accetto presented his views in a paper entitled Judicial Review and Climate Change: Using Old Tools for New Purposes?
