The President and the members of the delegation of the Constitutional Court of the Republic of Hungary began formal discussions with the Judges of the Constitutional Court of the Republic of Slovenia on Thursday. At the beginning the discussions were aimed at the achievements of both Constitutional Courts regarding the development and enhancement of the rule of law and ensuring the constitutional functioning of state institutions following democratic amendments that occurred at the end of the last century. In the discussions today, the Judges compared the powers, procedures and organization of both Constitutional Courts. In the continuation of discussions, the Judges will exchange experience regarding constitutional review of each country and possible solutions to excessive workload of constitutional courts.

On Friday, 7 May, the President and Judges of the Constitutional Court of the Republic of Hungary will be received by the President of the National Assembly of the Republic of Slovenia, Dr Pavel Gantar.

The delegation of the Constitutional Court of the Republic of Hungary will depart from Slovenia on Saturday, 8 May 2010.

Upon the invitation of the President of the Constitutional Court of the Republic of Slovenia, Mr Jože Tratnik, a delegation of the Constitutional Court of the Republic of Hungary, led by President Dr Péter Paczolay, arrived on a three-day visit to the Constitutional Court of the Republic of Slovenia on Thursday, 6 May 2010. The delegation includes Judges Dr Elemér Balogh and Dr László Kiss.
