On Thursday and Friday, 16 and 17 November 2023, President of the Constitutional Court Dr Matej Accetto and Vice President Dr Rok Čeferin attended the ceremony and International Conference marking the 60th anniversary of the Constitutional Court of the Republic of Serbia in Belgrade, Serbia.

Within the first topic of the conference, the central themes addressed the role of constitutional courts in the application of the European Convention on Human Rights and the case law of the European Court of Human Rights at the national level. The second topic focused on examples of good practice and challenges in the dialogue between constitutional courts and the European Court of Human Rights. In his presentation dedicated to the mechanism of advisory opinions under Protocol No. 16 to the European Convention on Human Rights, President Accetto evaluated the benefits of this instrument. He views it as a welcome and important option available to the highest national courts for engaging in a dialogue with the European Court of Human Rights on the most challenging legal issues. He also underlined the different options for cross-border judicial dialogue among the highest courts in a broader sense.

On Friday, 17 November 2023, upon the invitation of the Slovene Ambassador to Serbia Mr Damjan Bergant, the delegation of the Constitutional Court also attended the so-called Traditional Slovene Breakfast. The embassy hosted foreign ambassadors accredited in Serbia at the event.
