On 14 March 2022, the President of the Constitutional Court Prof. Dr Matej Accetto met with the Human Rights Ombudsman Peter Svetina. They exchanged their views on current issues concerning respect for human rights and democratic values, the protection of which the Constitution of the Republic of Slovenia has entrusted to both institutions. They agreed that the cooperation between the two institutions is excellent and that they are both indispensable – each within the framework of its constitutional and statutory competences – for the protection of human rights and fundamental freedoms in our country. At the same time, President Accetto and Ombudsman Svetina noted that a delayed practical implementation of the decisions of the Constitutional Court and the opinions of the Ombudsman is a cause for concern.  In this regard, they called for a greater responsiveness of the other two branches of government.
